What struck me as odd is something that was said there re the timeframe of when these were going to enter into force. The lawyer who was presenting on the unconstitutionality of those tools of governance, Kruse was his name, stated that the treaty was going to be voted on in May 2024 and that simultaneously, the IHR amendments we're going to enter into force. Whereas it had been my understanding that nation states needed to opt out of the IHR amendments by December of 2023? I personally definitely had it wrong once before when I was convinced that the IHR were going to enter into force already in October of 2023. Then you told me it was December. Has there been any change to that? Or is it possible that those lawyers are under a wrong impression? They did not at all warn about the necessity to opt out by December. Thank you for clarifying...
UNFORTUNATELY, even though I have repeatedly raised the issue, nearly everyone on earth seems to choose to ignore the December 1, 2023 deadline to reject the amendments that were adopted on May 27, 2022.
The 300+ amendments that may be considered in May 2024, if they were to be adopted, would not enter into legally binding force until approximately June 1, 2025.
Why are people ignoring that? Is it a kind of different legal approach, where they say, the December deadline should be ignored as it would for some reason not be legally valid anyway? Contra bonos mores or what do I know. Or, do they just count differently? Wouldn't it for the sake of precaution be important to heed any earliest deadline just to be on the safe side? Would people not want to be on the safe side, for some reason? This can't be just a show of going through the motions with additional purpose of distracting people, ensuring the December deadline is missed? I nearly can't imagine this but then, misleading the opposite party about their deadlines is not completely unheard of. In other aspects of the multi-year phenomenon that I see going on and that I would characterize as a war, I feel there is a lot of unscrupulous determination to be seen.
