Anyway, I was sufficiently moved by your interview with John Campbell to distill the less controversial elements of your argument into an email and, against a stated backdrop of the UK Government not granting a debate in the House on IHR despite the petition exceeding 100k signatures, sent it to my constituency MP Steven Barclay, who coincidentally also happens to be the Health Minister in the current Government.
Like you I prefer facts and rational argument rather than accusation and insults, but in this case I doubt even a respectful reasoned approach will change much. Looking at the Minister’s historical voting record in the House there appears to be clear support for issues which involve public-private partnership, so I don’t hold out much hope.
But if the man can put Truth before career and political survival aside for one moment and pause for thought, it might in some way help move the needle a fraction in favour of rationality and common sense at this critical time.
So I would just encourage everyone, wherever you are in the world, to send something to your representative. It has been said that revolutions occur one person at a time so everybody’s actions automatically count.
