If it's the type of music that I, or anyone else, does NOT like......it CANNOT be 'unifying'.
If one is of a certain genre, yes, it IS UNIFYING.
I'm a Metal-Head (Heavy Metal)......you will NEVER catch me at a (C)Rap, Country, Pop, and so on, concert. And same goes for someone who hates Heavy Metal......they wouldn't be caught dead at a Metal gig!
When I go to my Metal gigs......it's UNIFYING to ALL there, because they LOVE METAL!
If you throw in a Country band, in with the 2 Metal Bands playing that night......people will walk out; NOT 'unifying'.
Methinks that Jeff may want to re-think that 'unifying music fest'! LOL
If he BELIEVES that he can bring a bunch of different genres/bands together, and there will be NO fights/violence......then he really IS delusional!
You say "We do not claim ownership of your content. This is the point of our TOS." But according to the terms quoted by the comment you are replying to you DO own our content: "We are the sole owners of the information collected by or through the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy."
Hey Monty, if you continue beyond that section in the TOS we define specifically what we are referring to as “information”. We are explicit that you are licensing your content for us to distribute on our platform, not that we claim ownership of it.
If we want to be in certain countries, we would be required to. Right now, we do an age verification for verified accounts. But our TOS declare that you have to be 18.
It’s one of the reasons why I don’t have a verified account…I understand your reasoning and the necessity yet I just don’t want to participate but I do like everything else you are doing.
We are the sole owners of the information collected by or through the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy."

"Limited License to PICKAX

By uploading User Content to a private area of the Service, you grant PICKAX a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid up right and license to host, store, transfer, display, reproduce, modify and use User Content for the full period of time that you maintain your account on the Service, solely to enable your use of User Content. Hey Luc, thanks for sharing your concerns. We do collect data within our platform in order to run it, such as the information you volunteer us (name, email, etc) as well the analytics. This is unavoidable and you cannot run a social media platform without that type of data analysis. However, what we are NOT doing is stalking you across the internet like many other platforms do, collecting data on where you shop, what sites you visit, what you say on the phone. Additionally, we are NOT selling data to anybody and are not using it to target ads, nor are we using it to develop AI. We aren't building a profile of you based on your data like our competitors are doing in order to weaponize ads or AI or algorithms.
To run a platform, we have to be able to collect certain information... the question is how are we collecting that info and what are we using it for. But in the understanding of data collection within tech companies, we are not playing that game. Data is king to other platforms... it's not to us.
For us to house your content on our platform, you need to license it to us to distribute. We do not claim ownership of your content. This is the point of our TOS. Hope that explains things a bit.
If you read our TOS, we define what information becomes our property... and that is not your content. You are licensing your content to us, but we don't claim ownership. In fact, if you go to Information Collection, Use and Sharing, it defines what information we are claiming as being "sole owners" of.
To be clear, there's also certain language that is meant to protect us as a platform, but is not necessarily prescriptive in how we operate our business. That's the unfortunate aspect of attorneys, but it's also what protects "the house."
Wish we had this or similar in Australia.
Excellent conversation. Thanks from across the pond to both of you.
I think that Jeff may be a little delusional.
With his, 'Music is Unifying'.
I beg to differ.

I signed up quite a while ago and I’m excited to see it grow.
Thanks so much!
Not Available in the UK ,,, 😭
Not yet... as I explain in my conversation with James, there's some extra hurdles we have to deal with first.
Won’t you be required to do the age verification? I know it’s happening in Australia but I’m unsure if the UK is also.

I admit I didn't read ALL of both policies.

Google, Facebook, TikTok and any other social media you're on all do this what's the difference?
Well here’s the thing… I am NOT on any of those!
I know but I'm just saying with all due respect I often see people mentioning those things and they use these services on a daily basis

I read the terms of service and the privacy policy yesterday.
Uploaded content becomes property of pick axe?
Personal information shared with third parties?
I'll probably sign up.
Thanks Jeff.

Thanks for the clarification.
I edited my comments.
