Thank you james for the tremendous amount of information . Over the years I've often wondered how much of an impact air travel has on the environment and climate change. Another source of this pollution is military jets all the flights by US Russia China European countries and others contribute to this problem. And it's amazing that people think that they just pay a little something for a carbon offset and they think that that solves that. People do not realize the extent of the pollution and the fact that it's just not carbon dioxide that is the problem there are a whole host of other problems which you detail in your article. Clouds Scatter All Colors Equally (Mie Scattering). When sunlight hits water droplets, all visible colors are scattered equally, which causes clouds to appear white (not blue).
Clouds can appear gray when they are thick (blocking sunlight), or orange/red/yellow during sunrise and sunset because the light they reflect has traveled through more of the atmosphere, scattering away the blue light and leaving the warmer colors.
When light interacts with tiny, uniform water droplets or ice crystals, it can cause diffraction, which produces a spectrum of colors—including pinks, purples, and greens—often called "iridescent clouds" or "rainbow clouds". Essentially, this is the classic "prism" effect resulting in rainbows.
